Does it make me energized?
Yes! Unlike caffeine based drinks, cacao has a gentler effect that is made from stimulating blood flow from the heart, rather than blocking receptors in the brain. You may find its a more relaxed energy. Dosage is everything.
What makes cacao "Ceremonial Grade"
The definition is not objective. To us, ceremonial grade relates to the way the cacao is grown and processed. It means it is grown by family-run farms that pay living wages and are intentional with how their cultivation methods. Not using chemical pesticides and growing in tune with the other plants, not in rows. It also means it is processed with minimal amounts of heat to maintain the integrity of the naturally occuring compounds. Finally, it means that our brand shares this medicine with honor and reverance for the lineage of stewards that came before us and with the intention for it to be drank as a healing, enlivening beverage.

How is this different than cocoa powder?
Ceremonial cacao paste is made from whole cacao beans that are minimally processed and ground into a paste, retaining all the natural fats (cacao butter) and nutrients for a rich, full-bodied experience. In contrast, cacao powder is made by pressing out most of the cacao butter from the beans, resulting in a drier, powder with a lighter texture and less fat. You can google the "Dutch Alkali Processing Method" to see how cocoa powder is actually made. You won't like what you see.
How do you prepare the hearts?
Just drop 1-2 hearts in 8-12 oz of hot water, froth or blend and enjoy. You can add honey, salt, alternative milk and any other flavors you want to make it your special beverage.

I used 2 discs in my morning smoothie blend with frozen berries, became a staple in my diet. This is my second shipment, the shape of the discs has changed from thick small discs to thin larger wafers, I preferred the original thicker discs better.
